 Rebecca Braun, publisher and editor
Rebecca Braun began reporting for the Alaska Budget Report in 2000, and served as co-editor before purchasing the newsletter in 2005. Braun writes a monthly column for the Juneau Empire, appears as a guest host and commentator on television news programs, and produces occasional radio commentaries and features. Her Empire columns received the Alaska Press Club's Suzan Nightingale McKay Best Columnist Award in 2005, and her analysis pieces in the Alaska Budget Report were awarded first place for excellence in state government reporting by the national Association of Capitol Reporters and Editors. Braun holds a degree in biology from Harvard, and a masters in teaching from the University of Alaska Southeast. She currently serves as president of the Capital Correspondents Association.
Gregg Erickson, editor-at-large
Gregg Erickson, the founding editor of the Alaska Budget Report, is a professional economist, reporter and editor. Besides contributing to the report, Mr. Erickson maintains a statewide economic consulting practice, writes a monthly column on economic and political affairs for the Anchorage Daily News, and often appears as a commentator on radio and television news programs. He is treasurer of the New York-based Robert Schalkenbach Foundation, an endowment dedicated to justice and economic efficiency in the distribution of land and resources. Mr. Erickson has held numerous university, federal and state appointments, including several years as senior economist at Alaska's Office of Management and Budget.
Judith Erickson, founding publisher and contributor
Ms. Erickson founded Capital Information Group in 1986 and in 1991 launched the Alaska Budget Report. She has 30 years professional experience with the Alaska Legislature. In addition reporting for the Alaska Budget Report, Ms. Erickson writes and publishes CIG's Alaska Oil and Gas Report, Alaska Insurance Report, and the Alaska Gas Line Review.
The Ericksons' efforts to access secret state budget documents under the state's Public Records Act went to the Alaska Supreme Court in 1998 (Capital Information Group v. State of Alaska), and earned the 1998 Liberty award from the American Civil Liberties Union.
